This Saturday, 23rd November, we are delighted to announce that we shall be holding a very special event to officially launch Swindon in the Great War. The event will be between 11am and 2pm at Radnor Street Chapel, and will include an unveiling and re-dedication of the Sandford Street Memorial.
You could be excused for thinking a young, unmarried, childless soldier who died in the carnage of the First World War might be forgotten today. But, more than 97 years later, photos of Swindon railwayman Archie Knee have been published online.
Welcome to the official blog of Swindon in the Great War, an organisation of volunteers who have got together to ensure our town marks the centenary of the war in way that is appropriate for our proud history.
